Hallelujah Boy went straight to the front from the outside stall (7) and was out by more than a length at the 1200m. The lead narrowed past the 600m but he was under no pressure, led at the top of the straight and then kicked away. Going well, he kept increasing his lead and had three lengths on them at the post for win number five (including two in Japan) and first at stakes level. Cool Chap followed the leaders (rails) into the straight, took over second at the 200m but was no match for the winner. Fit For Purpose was fourth (rails) at the 300m and battled away, best of the rest, for third.
