G.H. Mumm Stakes (G3)
James McDonald rode patiently and settled Pittsburgh Flyer several lengths behind the leading group on the Grandstand side. She improved between runners coming to the 200m, sprinted quickly to lead that division at the 100m and then finished too well grab the leader to score a very smart win in the last few strides. Dublin Lass travelled well in the centre of the rails side group, moved up strongly at the 300m and looked the winner when she dashed clear coming to the 100m but she could not hold off the late-closing winner (on the Grandstand side of the track) for a good second. Brook Road was last of the Grandstand side group, and probably last of all in the 18-horse field at 400m. She improved (under riding) and put in a good run in the centre of the course from the 300m and kept running on well for a good third.
