Hey Doc was away well from his inside draw contesting the early lead before being restrained to settle down in fourth position on the fence. He got his head up a little in the middle stages when the leader Fuhryk eased the pace but was back on the bridle and travelling smoothly soon after. On turning for home Luke Currie aboard Hey Doc was searching for runs between horses before switching back to the fence quickening up well and hitting the front at the 300m before pulling away from the field. He was forced to commit early in the straight when the run appeared but he saw out the 1600m well to score a dominant victory. Prized Icon enjoyed a good run in the race sixth on the fence following the winner. He travelled particularly well into the race three back on the fence looking for runs at the top of the straight before switching back towards the inside following the winner who had taken inside runs. Forced to come between horses Prized Icon picked up really well once finally in the clear at the 250m to close strongly, taking ground of the winner late. It was a good effort second up and he will be improved by the run and a step up in trip. Snitzson raced in tenth position between runners. He was cluttered up looking for runs approaching the home turn with his rider electing to stay closer to the inside. He followed Prized Icon through gaining a tight gap at the 300m before switching off into the clear at the 200m. He finished on strongly for a good third. Harlow Gold was another horse to finish on well back towards the inside in the straight. Well back on turning for home on the inside of Snitzson she was held up for a run before coming between horses at the 250m. She responded to hard riding and battled on gamely against the colts to finish a good fourth. She will improve for the run and returning to her own sex. Anaheim put in an eye catching run closing strongly from well back in the field for a good fifth. He will improve for the run and a step up in trip.
