Gold Coast Bracelet (LR)
Express Power was eased from her wide barrier (13) and settled down a distant twelfth following a fast pace (first 1200m 1:12.22). She improved wide from the 700m and put in a strong run (wide out) rounding the home turn, taking the lead at the 200m. She went on to win impressively, staking strong claims for the major fillies’ events at the winter Carnival. Soapy Star raced in about eighth place one off the rails before moving up wide from the 600m. She challenged at the 200m then fought on gamely for second, finding her stablemate (Express Power) too good in the closing stages. Zombie Dancer was about tenth one off the rails, eased out wide, under pressure at the turn. She kept running on, getting up for third at the post. Dolphus was fourth at the 800m, moved up three wide at the 600m and worked to the lead on turning for home. She tired after that effort, over the final 200m, holding for fairly well for a sound fourth. *ANZ
