Consistent colt Flight King has now raced six times for three wins and three placings. He was smartly away and soon went to the lead. He was then able to steady the pace (first 600m 35.85) before drawing clear rounding the home turn, where he remained well away from the rails. He went to the post strongly in the closing stages to win by just over a length, sprinting home his last 600m in a smart 33.91 for apprentice Rikki Jamieson. Into The Red ($4.40 favourite) was third, one off the rails, most of the way to the home turn. He took a while to wind up in the sprint home with his top weight (59kg) and he ran on gamely for a good second, conceding 7.5kg to the winner. The consistent Siegfried was fourth on the rails most of the way to the turn after starting from his inside barrier (1). He went to third at the 100m and kept fighting on nicely along the rails, which appeared to be the worst part of the track, to take the minor placing in what appears to be a ‘good form’ race. *ANZ
