Hawkesbury XXXX Gold Rush (LR)
Team Hawkes-trained colt Glenall, who was having his fourth run this preparation and, racing in blinkers for the first time, was quite impressive in winning here. He was smartly away from his outside barrier (11) and soon crossed to race in second place but caught three deep (outside of the leader Tango Rain with Spending To Win in the centre), that trio going at a good tempo. After a good battle on turning for home, he got to front on passing the 200m and went on for a good win. Spending To Win raced in third spot (in the centre) sharing the pace, got to second at the 200m and fought on well for second, staging a solid effort. Kuro was seventh early on, went through to fourth at the 600m and kept fighting on well in the straight to take the minor placing in a nice first up run. Akasaki battled on to take (2.9 lengths) fourth while the early leader and favourite Tango Rain tired over the latter stages for (3 lengths) fifth after leading until halfway down the straight.
