Atlantic Jewel (LR)
Anthony Freedman looks to have a star in the making in Shoals, the beautifully-bred three-year-old who maintained her unbeaten record in four starts (three at Group level) with a clear-cut win here. Under Mark Zahra she began best from barrier five but was not able to find the rails and had to settle a half-length off the lead, three out. Passing the 700m she moved a width closer to the fence, still a half-length back and remained there until the last corner. Into the straight, Zahra gave her a shake and she immediately pounced, grabbed the lead inside the 200m and kept up a strong run to the line to win well. Blondie took over the pace soon after the start and maintained the lead, at a steady tempo, to the straight then fought well to hold second from She's So High who was midfield, five wide, turning in and closed well in the centre of the track for third. Sanadaat was in behind the pace into the straight and ran on fairly for fourth.
