The Paul's Manihi Classic (LR)

WT: 54kg Type: Qlty

Analysis: The Peter Moody-trained Planet Voyage, who was well backed to start the $2.90 favourite, drove through from his good barrier (3) and soon led. He travelled along well in front, kicked clear on turning for home and fought on gamely for a narrow but good win in smart time (57.70). Esprit De Bullet was a little slowly away but recovered from his inside barrier (1) to settle behind the leader and eventual winner. He challenged strongly mid-stretch and fought on well for a close second after seeming to have every chance. El Magico was eased from his wide barrier (11) and settled near last. He looked for a run in the centre on turning for home but failed to get clear until the 200m, then running on strongly for a good third, his wide barrier proving costly. *ANZ
