Bull Point, having his second start for new trainer David Vandyke, soon crossed to the front. He then ran along at quite a good pace (60.81) in the Soft6 conditions, was challenged shortly after turning for home but he kept fighting back gamely and drew clear again nearing the post to score well in a return to form. Medcaut raced in second place, moved up to challenge strongly at the 300m and after a solid battle he held on for a sound second. Libran was back in seventh place, one off the rails, commenced his run from the 300m and kept making ground without threatening to take the minor placing. New Zealander Hasselhoof, who was unbeaten in his first six starts, was back in third place, moved up briefly nearing the home turn but was soon under pressure. He just battled from there to finish a disappointing (2.5 lengths) fourth on the Soft6 track.
