Cellarbrations Phar Lap Stakes (G2)
Winx settled down in third last position one off the fence on the outside of the runner up Hauraki. She travelled well in the run and was taken to the outside on turning for him. She unleashed a big finish to grab the lead at the 100m and draw right away to score really well, an impressive performance by a talented filly. Hauraki was restrained from his wide barrier and settled down in last on the fence before improving his position before the first turn to be third last. He continued to improve his position to be three back on the fence at the 600m. He stayed closer to the fence and then switched out to finish right along the inside. He finished gamely to grab second right on the line. Supara showed good pace to settle in second position on the fence. She switched off the rails in the middle stages to end up racing in fourth position one out one back. She cornered three and four wide and finished on gamely to grab third right on the line. A sound run. Diamond Valores missed the start before improving his position to end up settling down in third position on the fence behind the leaders. He pushed out into the clear on straightening but only battled on at one pace in the straight to just miss third right on the post.
