The equal top weights with 60kg fought out this Listed event. Pelicano enjoyed a good trip in sixth place, one off the rails, travelling well in a truly run event. He moved up wide with cover from the 600m before fanning wide nearing the home turn. He challenged on straightening, took the lead at the 200m and held on well for good win, scoring by a length. Hurdy Gurdy Man was second last in the ten-horse field to the 600m and was under pressure to improve approaching the turn. He switched wide on turning for home, but took a while to wind-up, before coming with a late run to take second, putting up a good effort. Unchain My Heart ($3.75 favourite) was seventh on the rails, switched out between runners at the 600m but was urged to improve on straightening. She had clear running from the 200m and kept plugging on well for a sound third, after appearing to have every chance. Garud was near last, made a wide run with cover from the 700m before going to the extreme outside coming to the home turn. He looked a winning chance on straightening but wilted slightly in the closing stages for fourth, beaten a length and a half. You Think So was a handy fourth, one off the rails with cover, moved up nicely three wide nearing the turn and took a narrow lead coming into the straight. But he just kept battling on from the 200m and finished fifth, beaten two and three quarter lengths. *ANZ
