The hottest stable around in New Zealand at the moment when it comes to blacktype and the general premiership won this with a nice professional type in Dal Cielo. The colt by the in form juvenile sire Per Incanto finally got a decent draw again and never looked like getting beaten with the drop on the leaders. He posted 1:10.66 and had them covered at the line with this clocking stacking up well with the times of two earlier events for older horses. Once again the rider for the Murray Baker/Andrew Forsman stable was Opie Bosson. The colours worn by Dal Cielo have had a wonder run for a couple of seasons now and it does not look like abating at the moment with so much young horsepower. The runner up and pace forcer Battle Time was game for a maiden juvenile while the third finisher Rocanto had every chance and is another by Per Incanto. Marky Mark was a good fourth after laying out badly turning for home and he is a closer of some note that should relish the rise to 1400m for the Sires Produce and left-handed in three weeks. Strata Lady was sound the closing stages after being bumped early. The best effort of the non-dividend payers was Gotham that got run off around the home turn by Marky Mark and then ran on from last late like a Group horse in the making as a 3yo. Gotham has been running big races this season and today got galloped on too so is name to remember as the will to compete and win is already there. Serena Miss never got into the race after being hampered early so at her first race clockwise there is now still that unknown factor. The winner Dal Cielo is the real deal and this looks a reliable guide for this season and the next as it contained some reasonable types with further improvement to come. A genuine G1 for the juveniles and as there are only two in a New Zealand racing season so it should be.
