Hasselhoof kept his unbeaten stance today after handling a G2 Open Handicap field at the mile with relative ease to be six from six and a lifesaver for bettors that like the short priced ones. He adored the wet ground being by Tavistock that is leaving many swimmers and being out of a Zabeel dam that helps too. His second dam Manawa Belle is by Zamazaan and that is swim and stamina blood plus she has left Manawa King, which ran second beaten a head in the 2004 G1 Sydney Cup (3200m) behind the great Makybe Diva, Hasselhoof has a stamina future it seems and today after getting a great run fourth the outer was stoked up to improve near the home turn before surging like a Baywatch wave to grab the front at the 300m. He drove clear in the conditions to win by over two lengths and only the handicapper can stop him now it seems. His next outing is expected to be middle distance and clockwise again and then he might be seen in Sydney for the rich purses on offer in the autumn if a right-handed regime is adhered too for the moment. Left-handed can wait until the Spring next season when fully furnished and with more ringcraft under the belt. Consensus was a game second after sitting wide the whole way in the midfield and she keeps coming the run home, as she did today all the way to the wire. Irion the leader only lost second money on the post so did a good job while Tavy ran on gamely after being back and wide on settling. Tavy cannot get a draw to make her blacktype life easier at the moment. Rasa Lila got home super well late down the outer for fifth and was a complete track bias victim. Fast Learner was beaten by the holding gluey ground but is very fit at the moment so is a winner in waiting on decent footing. El Pescado was a tad disappointing considering he likes wet ground. Silverdale got warmed up too late down the outer for eighth but was too far away on settling to ever be any realistic hope much like Rasa Lila but it showed just how good her effort was to get fifth. The footing upset the rest to varying degrees, as they would not go a yard in it once given their heads the run home. Hasselhoof has become the hype horse of the moment in New Zealand and is like a lifeguard rescuing bettors that need a plonk on a hotpot they can rely on each time. He has been judiciously placed so far but the pressure to maintain the unbeaten mantra will only continue to be ratcheted up as each still to be defeated number is surpassed. He has tactical speed so can counter track bias and can swim so stamina and then G1 or WFA or both are what is ahead. There is a chance at a raceday next year perhaps in Australia when on course too as an invite of the club will be none other than David Hasselhoff. The Hoff can then meet The Hoof or vice versa.
