This G3 Open Handicap over 2400m saw the leader Justamaiz win very easily and confirm the manmade track bias all day happened in both one-turn and two-turn races. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were fourth (one-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), fourth (three-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the inside), led (four-off the inside and a head in front), fourth (six-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), third (three-off the inside and a length and a half from the leader), led (two-off the inside and a neck in front), led (on the fence and a length and a half in front), sixth (on the fence and three lengths from the leader) and third (on the fence and a length and a half from the leader). The manmade track bias was immense as the inside lane and lanes were so much faster than the rest of the track the entire day. Justamaiz was always a length and a half to a couple of lengths clear in the lead and then shot away the run home by a much bigger margin and would end up scoring by two and a half lengths in 2:27.12. The time was nothing flash but was better by nine lengths than the Ratings 72 (four grades inferior) run the race prior. It was the sixth win in twenty-one starts for the 5yo gelding that ran second favourite and his first Blacktype win (or placing either as he ran last at his other G3 attempt). Half of his wins have come at 2200m (once) and 2400m (twice) suggesting he likes to get into a rhythm and can sustain that front running pattern. Masetto raced third the inner and was second chasing in vain at the 350m but the three-win only galloper used his racing pattern to good effect on a very helpful track. It was the first Blacktype placing for the 4yo galloper too. Dezella in her first ever run in Open Class gained a G3 third and defied the manmade track bias to run on in a sustained manner from ninth on settling. Vin De Dance was second on settling chasing the eventual winning leader and weakened to fourth beaten over five and a half lengths. Lady Shabeel raced fourth the inner then sixth before ending up a distant fifth. The next trio came home a length behind her in a cluster after settling well back and never ever looked likely. The rest came home in intervals beaten over ten lengths up to as much as nearly twenty-five lengths. The favourite and last finisher In A Twinkling raced fifth and then ran off badly the home turn and was eased right down. This result was massively due to manmade track bias and to prove it just one runner in the entire field has won a race since in Gorbachev that won the many lengths weaker Taupo Cup and a Ratings 82 (four grades inferior) under 64kg.
