This G2 juvenile field lacked depth and numbers but saw an unbeaten filly in Gift Of Power remain so albeit just. She disputed the pace on the inner so covered less ground than her rivals then kicked away at the 300m and was home for all money at the 150m. Gift Of Power then had a lone threat the closing 50m and in the end fell in to score by a nostril flare and clock 1:03.64, a time that can be dismissed as all chute times here (800m to 1200m) are too bionic and superior to the world so something is not ringing true at Trentham (and the same applies for the Riccarton chute too). The three-from-three by Gift Of Power including now a G2 and Listed win are the ideal advertisement for the sire Power that breeders and part owners Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan stand at Cambridge Stud as a shuttle stallion. Hasahalo after sitting fourth stalking the leading trio once through and off the inside started to unleash potently but missed by a whisker of winning. Melody Belle was a game third after sitting wide on the pace throughout and covering extra ground. She was beaten just under three lengths so the winner had her covered even allowing for the different distances covered but a rematch looks a formality over summer. Mofara on debut got warmed up late from the rear and the colt has improvement to come for sure. Empress Tzu Hsi was running on okay. The rest were average but perhaps forgive Juliette as she was trapped wide fifth in the open throughout and the maiden felt the strain unsurprisingly. Many of these will be aimed at the Karaka Millions next year so some will need to chase stake earnings while the first three home should be very safe of making the final field now.
