Australian breds captured all three blacktype races at Wingatui today and this Listed 2400m handicap saw Kaharau win his fifth race in a row. He has been a revelation this season since put over ground and the 4yo has tactical speed plus can produce that vital secondary kick the run home. The ease of this over two length win came after racing handy then striding up to challenge the run home before booting clear to clock 2:21.97. It was his sixth career win in nineteen starts with the promise of a lot more to come and especially so in the South Island where he is thriving. Lakota ran her usual honest race for second after being midfield the inner on settling while Speedy Jax was a sound third after racing seventh then moving up wide into contention across the top to the home turn. Princess Brook fought on well after getting a handy sit throughout and Sadlers Rock was swamped late after looping around from the back to grab the front 800m out. Hexie Hao was not too bad the closing stages nor for that matter Please Release Me. Sureasyouwereborn never looked likely from last on settling and passed a couple late but the weight was too much at 60kg for a mare. Kaharau could keep beating this line for a while yet and the 4yo male may tackle the 3200m Triple Crown next season as an even stronger commodity starting with the NZ Cup at Riccarton. Princess Brook the other 4yo in the field has scope too being a mare.
