Race 4 – 5. Ngapali Beach

Ngapali Beach has raced well without getting the major prize this prep, placing at all three runs this time in. She was backed into a very short quote last start, but the race was dominated from the front, and Ngapali Beach was slow away. There appears to be good pressure this time, with potentially four leaders in the race. If they’re running on down the middle, I’m confident it will be Ngapali Beach getting over the top.

Race 6 – 9. Earendel

It was a stunning return to the races for Earendel, seemingly destined to be a good thing beaten, he hit the front right on the line to beat The Longest Yard, who won here last week. He’s a horse on the up who strikes a cracking field here, but in turn drops from 59kg to 54kg. The barrier (11/11) is the obvious knock, but I don’t mind it for a horse that, at times, has been slowly away. This race is a Devonport Cup rehearsal, and I think Earendel can further stake his claims for that contest with another win here.

Race 5 – 4. Trotsky

Despite only having small numbers, trainer Dylan Clark provides two of my three specials this week. Trotsky is flying this campaign. Trotsky won first-up, was horribly held up second-up in a complete forgive and placed last week when running out of his grade. He’s back to a class 1 here, which admittedly is fairly deep, but again he’s double figure odds. Keen to play each-way.
