YES or NO: Which horse can win the Ballarat Cup
By SENTrack & RSN
Expert form analyst Mark Hunter has taken a look at Victoria's feature race of the day at Ballarat - the $500,000 Ballarat Cup (2000m).
Berkeley Square won the 2024 edition of this race and Hunter is tipping the gelding to go back-to-back.
“I’m gonna tip back-to-back for Berkeley Square," Hunter told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“He ran in the Queen Elizabeth (2600m) last year, then it ran in the Zipping Classic (2400m) on a heavy track, backed up seven days later and still won the Ballarat Cup.
“I think Dan O’Sullivan’s kept it fresher this year.
“It’s racing well, the Bart Cummings (2520m) run was good from the back – Valiant King (1st) and Torranzino (2nd). Torranzino fifth in a Melbourne Cup, good form.
“Geelong Cup (2400m) – Torranzino (1st), Gilded Water (2nd), two really good horses.
“Then on that really heavy track for the Queen Elizabeth, he held his ground quite well.
“It will go back, it will need luck to get into the race, but I think Berkeley Square has got a great chance.”
Hunter also provided a YES or NO rating for each horse in the Listed Race.
