Waugh's winning hopes at Gosford
By SEN
Kim Waugh’s stable is due some luck. And it could turn this Thursday at Gosford.
Waugh has had horses run a place in 11 of their last 20 starts including Bojangles who ran second at Randwick on Saturday.
Australian cricket great Mark Waugh is the husband of Kim and he feels that their fortune might be ready to turn at the provincials later this week.
The stable will saddle up Gloria, and recent acquisition Be Quiet at Gosford. If they run up to their potential and are afforded some luck then Waugh suggests we could see a stable double.
Brightburn was set to run at Gosford but has since been scratched.
“We’ve got three horses that could all win,” Junior said on SEN’s Sportsday NSW.
“We’ve got Gloria, we’ve got Brightburn and we’ve got a horse called Be Quiet which we just bought off Joe Pride a couple of weeks ago. She’s a nice little mare.
“If those three all run on Thursday, geez, I reckon our luck could change.
“I’m tipping very strongly that they’ll all be very hard to beat.”
Gloria is currently the $2.10 favourite with Sportsbet in Race 2 at Gosford on Thursday. Brightburn is out of Race 4 and Be Quiet is $3.30 second favourite in Race 6.
Waugh also touched on a number of non-racing topics, including his Ashes memories, England’s approach and Australia’s form.
