How the 2025 Oaks favourite is tracking following her defeat

Danny O’Brien, the trainer of super talented filly Getta Good Feeling, has provided an update on how the three-year-old is tracking along since her last-start defeat in the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m).

O’Brien revealed that the way that Group 1 was run on Oaks Day didn’t suit the heavy favourite for that race, but she has pulled through the run really well and is enjoying her break in the paddock.

“She came through it (the spring) really well,” O’Brien told RSN’s Correct Weight.

“She just found the 2500m (difficult), particularly the way it was run that day, she just ran out of stamina.

“She's had a good little break, she's been back for a few weeks now, so she'll come back to Flemington (her home training track) soon.”

With the Autumn Racing Carnival slowly etching closer towards us, O’Brien admitted that his star filly would need to be at 100% before racing in that carnival.

However, if she can get her fitness right in time, then a potential target in Melbourne could be the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1600m) worth $300,000.

“Look, we'll just see how quickly she comes up,” the trainer said.

“The filly’s races in the Melbourne autumn are on you pretty quick, so she'd need to put everything together to get to them.

“If she did, there'd be something like the Kewney, and then an option of either Sydney or Adelaide, but we'll just keep an open mind for the moment.”
