Tuesday best bets from Luke & Brown (06/01)

By SENTrack

Cam Luke & Campbell Brown have your Tuesday sorted on Trackside.

The lads have taken a close look at Colac, Orange, Townsville & Port Macquarie to find the family some winners.

See their best bets below:👇

Cam Luke

COLAC

Race 6 | 1. Aseventy Seven

I can't believe I'm backing this bloke carrying 64.5kg but when he runs in a BM56 he wins! He got tired late last start but that Touchdown form has stood up in races much better than this. Scratchings mean the gate isn't as disgusting as 1st drawn and there's not a huge amount of speed so he'll be able to slide forward and find his rhythm. Will Gordon goes back on and they do have a wonderful connection. It won't be fast down the straight but as long as he is in rhythm he'll grind away and be first past the post.

Race 7 | 4. The Mount

The gate isn't as sticky with the scratchings but he is going to get back which isn't preferable at Colac but the speed will be on so I'm willing to take that punt. Was really good at Werribee and the form out of that race has held up and translates really good here today. Has won second up before and they good track is where he is at his best, as long as Emerald Court puts speed into the race which I think he will, this bloke will power home late and be too good.

ORANGE

Race 2 | 7. Brainiac (each-way)

Gets back to the 1400m for the first time this prep which is clearly an advantage. The last couple of runs have been in better maidens than there so I think the drop in class will most certainly help her. The 3kg claim gets her in very light and she can stalk the speed from a great gate. She is no world beater but neither is anything else in this field and she is over the odds at $10 and a great each way play.

Race 3 | 5. Flaming Moon

Gets out to 2100m for the first time this prep fourth up and she is ready for it. She's a get back kind of girl so the wide gate is no major concern as long as the speed is OK she'll get her chance. The last time she was over a similar distance was in the Autumn where she was in a Group 3 three year old race where she had zero luck from the gate and it was an end of prep run so ignore that. This rice isn't dripping in cream but I think she is the most progressive with the most room to improve and I think she'll start favourite and win.

PORT MACQUARIE

Race 3 | 1. Blue Suede Hooves

Was it brilliant last prep but those races are tougher than this as trialled up well and is ready to go. Hopefully Ash Morgan uses the gate to be a little more prominent than he has been a couple of starts in that prep. He is in a horse I'd be clambering in to back but $3.00 with queries over some of the others (Exceed Me / Dirty Does It need further I think in this class it's a decent bet. Mind Reader is the danger and goes in the EQ. He stays at the 1000m and with some gear changes he might improve but I don't think it's at the class of BSH.

Race 4 | 3. Trounce

Only two horses can win this race this and Highly Tempted but I think from a speed map perspective Trounce will have a much better run in transit. Gets to the 1500m which I think will be a big plus, the gate is perfect to stalk the speed other OSL or one out one back and I think the clear running she will get will be in a huge advantage over the luck needed for HT Who will also appreciate getting back to this distance after having a crack at it in town two starts back. I've got Trounce to win, also have a quinella with these two and an exacta but my biggest bet will be the win back.

Race 7 | 9. Andrea (each-way)

The run resuming wasn't as bad as it looked on paper and one thing I can assure you of is that it was a much tougher race than this. He looks like a 1200m horse and has only been there once and that was on a really heavy track so I'm choosing to ignore that run. Was not far off Raging Force last prep albeit over 900m but the form in deep races holds up for this and he is most certainly over the odds.

Campbell Brown

COLAC

Race 4 | 13. Contours

Both career runs have been good. Gets onto good ground and blinkers on today. Rise in trip also looks a huge positive. Should jump and lead and take some catching now with fitness and race experience under belt $4.20.

ORANGE

Race 5 | 4. Baby Hazel

Third run in this prep. Got back a bit further than they wanted last start and flashed late. Expecting Louise Day to sit closer from barrier five today and if produces similar to last start will be hard to hold out. $3.80.

TOWNSVILLE

Race 2 | 1. Bang Stick

Up to 1400m is a plus, never seen a heavy track but has performed well on soft. $1.90 is short but think the first two favorites at Townsville win well.

COLAC

Race 4 | 3. Trounce

Dominant win two back then found some traffic last start but still ran well. Call me basil will lead, and how can you trust highly tempted with one win from 19 starts. Up in trip suits trounce and should have the class over this lot $2.90.
