Injury Hub: Swans star "unlikely" for blockbuster clash
By SEN
The 2026 AFL season has kicked off and there is a heap of injury news to keep on top of.
Sydney superstar Isaac Heeney is unlikely to feature in the Swans' Thursday night clash with Hawthorn after suffering a minor hamstring concern.
Despite scans confirming that the star has avoided any serious issues, head coach Dean Cox this morning confirmed that, given the club's five-day break, Heeney's chances of featuring are slim.
“I think he’s more unlikely than likely,” Cox told SEN Breakfast.
“We got the scan back late yesterday and the results were better than we certainly hoped. There’s a little bit of fluid around the hamstring; there’s no structural damage.
“There’s just the option now of – certainly any player on a five-day break, you’ll really look at.
“We will assess Isaac. We train tonight, we will assess him later this afternoon and from there make the decision.
“At this stage, I’d rather be open and honest, it’s probably more unlikely than likely.”
Errol Gulden's luckless run with injury continues after being ruled out for at least four months following a significant shoulder injury.
Caught in a tackle during Sydney's triumphant win over the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night, Gulden suffered a dislocation to his right shoulder.
The club announced on Monday morning that Gulden, 23, will be sent in for surgery later this week, ruling him out for at least four months.
Port Adelaide's Todd Marshall has reportedly avoided any structural damage in his ankle, remaining in contention ahead of Round 2.
