Kyrgios embarks on horse racing ownership venture
By SEN
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has entered the horse racing world!
The Canberran has bought into a filly by the name of Divine Secrets, marking the 2022 Wimbledon finallist as a racing owner, suggesting that he is venturing into a new realm during the twilight of his career.
The Peter Snowden-trained Divine Secrets raced at Canberra on Friday night, breaking her maiden in a sprint across 1200m.
Kyrgios even travelled to the Canberra Racecourse and saw his three-year-old horse win live in the flesh.
It was actually the tennis star’s first ever race that he had watched live and was chuffed with Divine Secrets’ victory.
“Pretty lucky to have the opportunity to get here and watch it. This is my first ever horse race that I’ve watched live,” Kyrgios told Sky Racing.
“It doesn’t really get much better than that, I guess it’s all downhill from now.
“It was a lot of fun, and we’ve been lucky enough to be a part of it.”
In fact, the 30-year-old loved the races so much that he even stated that he may come back to the Canberra races across the coming months.
“I heard that there’s going to be a couple more races (at Canberra) in the next couple of months, so maybe I’ll have to check it out.”
Is this a sign of a fruitful ownership career in the future for Nick Kyrgios?
