“Might not lose”: Dwayne Russell’s huge Brisbane Lions prediction

Dwayne Russell has made a massive call on the Brisbane Lions.

After watching the Lions demolish Collingwood by 54 points on Thursday night, Russell reckons the back-to-back premiers might not lose again this regular season.

Chris Fagan's Lions have already lost twice in 2026 - to the Bulldogs at the Gabba and the Swans in Sydney - but that is unlikely to occur again in the home and away campaign, says Russell.

He explained his thought process on SEN’s Dwayne’s World on Friday.

“Brisbane looked so good last night with their co-captains Harris Andrews and Hugh McCluggage among a couple to come back in,” said Russell.

“Their two big summer recruits are firing. Oscar Allen looks great, Sam Draper looks great.

“They might not lose another home and away game this season, Brisbane. I am serious. Who's gonna beat them?

“They don't play the Dogs again. They met the Dogs in Opening Round at the Gabba and lost, but they don't meet the Dogs again. They might meet them in the finals.

“I think the Dogs are probably the best placed right now to be the team that could beat the Lions again.

“They lost to the Swans but they play the Swans next time at the Gabba and they're almost impossible to beat at the Gabba.

“In fact a lot of the threatening teams they play they meet at the Gabba this year.

“Maybe the Cats at GMHBA Stadium in Round 17 could be the next one, but look, I think they can win and I think they will win every home and away game from now to the end of the season.”

Russell went through the home and away games the Lions have in 2026.

“They play North Melbourne at the Barossa next week in Gather Round. I think they'll beat North,” he added.

“They then play Melbourne at the MCG, Adelaide at the Gabba, threatening team, but they got them at the Gabba.

“Essendon at Marvel, they'll beat Essendon at Marvel. Carlton at the Gabba, so Carlton on their day can threaten, but it's at the Gabba.

“Then they play Geelong, guess where? At the Gabba, so a threatening team they've got at the Gabba.

“They've got the Giants in ENGIE Stadium, and I think the Giants are going to be one of those teams that drop out of the 8 or the 10.

“They meet Fremantle, a threatening team, in Round 12, but they meet them at the Gabba. That's the other beautiful part about this whole run that the Lions have got. A lot of the threatening teams, again, they've got at the Gabba.

“They've got the Gold Coast down the road at Gold Coast. They've got Richmond at Ninja Stadium. Sydney then, Round 16, at the Gabba.

“And then Geelong, at GMHBA Stadium, that could be the one they lose in Round 17. Then Essendon at the Gabba, West Coast at Optus, Port Adelaide at the Gabba, Carlton at Marvel

“Then they finally have a matchup against Hawthorn which could give them a run. Where is it? It's at the Gabba.

“And then the Gold Coast at the Gabba and then Collingwood at the MCG. They might not lose another home and away game this year, the Brisbane Lions.”
