PORT MACQUARIE

Race 2, No.6 - Elska

Both her runs have been over the short course at the provincials mostly used for education purposes I would assume. Looks like she’s ready to go here and will find this easier as she steps up to a more suitable trip.

Race 5, No.1 - Gravel Road

Hasn’t had much of a time of it this prep despite starting fav. Will find this much easier than the P1s and he should not have any excuses here with the Bulldog on.

WARREN

Race 2, No.1 - Deodee

Steps up to a more suitable trip and will get the gun run from an inside draw. Was very good first up and will only improve from that.

Race 3, No.1 - Boncapo

Bolted in first-up on the heavy by over 6 for his new stable. Draws a bad gate but I hope Stiff doesn’t blow it and have a positive ride early to find a position OSL.

WARREN

Race 6, No.1 - Chandon Star

Tough win last start in the Lightening at Gunnadah and if there is a sprint race worth winning in this part of the world, he is in it and going close to winning it. Had to work hard from a bad gate last start, that is not the case today and will control it. A drying track would be preferrable but toe into the ground not a slammed door. He is a 1000m specialist and he is a tough fast horse that they have to catch, and I doubt they will!

Race 7, No.3 - Egyptologist

Coming back from the 1800 where he was tough but also expect that he will try and run them ragged here! Soft track here is a big win. Won’t need to work as hard today from the gate to get where he wants in run. Tough horse on a quicker turnaround and think that works today.

Race 8, No.9 - Bolo Miss

Not sure it runs a strong 1200 (especially in town) so half forget last start and the 1000 suits nicely today. Will drift back a little which is her style, but the speed is here (Bon / Rabble / Sailor) so she will get her chance. Soft track isn't a disadvantage, but any upgrade would shorten her odds. Always well placed and in this company always runs well and today is no different!

WANGARRATA

Race 4, No.7 - Thunderbolt Way (Multi with Brillantezza)

This is a speed map bet. He will be able to control it and here compared to Pak last start should find it easier in front. He loves the slop and he is the fit horse. Him and Linken will fight this out and honestly the other bloke adding the blinkers and only start 3 has more upside but he will be sporting a start and will need luck and I think TW will get the favours and win.

Race 5, No.10 - Brillantezza (Multi with Thunderbolt Way)

She is the classiest horse in the race and I'm banking on the trainer to know she is tough enough as a 3yo filly to handle 2000 for the first time against the older horses. The stable and jockey are flying. In a better race last start she looked like she needed this trip. HT is a query but she has panels of upside on these. Azeola goes in the Quaddie. Tough bugger who loves the slop and 2000 but his last win was in BM52 but gets conditions to suit.

Race 8, No.10 - Done Leavy

Reared as the gates opened last start and then got going late to run really well. Gate is a little tricky today but by this stage the outside probably be best. Runs well at the 1000 and is fit as could be. HT no slows. Her runs have been in deeper races than this and a clean getaway today gives her the catalyst to win this.

PORT MACQUARIE

Race 6, No.1 - My Mum's Toyboy

Tricky gate and huge weight (offset by the 2kg claim) are seen as negatives. Let me give the positives. Flies fresh, trialled well, loves soft ground and easily best horse in the race! I should also mention that the fave is drawn wider and will need to work hard to lead while MMT can play 'follow the leader’. Only needs a morsel of luck and this bloke will return in style.

Race 8, No.2 - Brilliant Knight

Can follow Mego over and sit OSL. Not a huge amount of speed outside of those 2 and that gives him the advantage over Phoenix. Was ok in a Highway last start but this race is much more his level. Soft track is perfect and has run well 3rd up before. Only him or PP can win it for mine and he has the benefit of fitness and staying at 1500 rather than jumping up from 1200. Both are in the Quaddie but I think the race shape and setup favours BK.

WARRNAMBOOL

Race 3, No.10 - Raise The Note

Was really good 2 back at Terang (albeit carrying 10kg less than Instigator) but this is easier. He didn't run the trip in the GA but the fact he was in the market gives an idea of how he is viewed. Stable is going really well and he won’t stay a maiden much longer over the big fences and by that I think he is 3450 away.

Early Crow 2
