First-up may have been the time to find Daytona Diva, as she’ll likely be well-found after a brilliant return victory. A winner of the Listed Strutt Stakes over 2000m at the track, Daytona Diva loves racing at Hobart, where she’s won five of six, and only looks better suited over 1390m than the 1200m of her fresh win. She’s absolutely thrown in at the weights on 54kg after Kirra-Lee Lane’s claim. I’ve marked her $1.55 to a 110% market for those wondering what a backable price might be.

Race 1 – 5. Sorell Eagles

Sorell Eagles was very brave in defeat behind Jedd’s Jet last start, and connections think enough of the winner to go around in the $45,000 feature on this program. The soft draw should ensure Sorell Eagles doesn’t get a repeat of last start, where he raced wide without cover, and Codi Jordan is generally a jockey who is good at getting them to leave the barriers. Looks ready to win.

Race 9 – 2. Fighting Floyd

Fighting Floyd made a brilliant return a fortnight ago, savaging the line over 1200m with the best closing sectionals of the day. Now an 8yo, he’s never been a horse that wins fresh (0/9), but he has performed second-up, and importantly, he gets out to a distance where he’s won four of seven at the track. I suspect the draw (12) might not be much of a disadvantage by the last race, which should see the old boy charging down the outside of the track.
