Gannon: Punters need to stop "whinging" about track bias

By Connor Scanlon

Don’t fear track bias, it is inevitable to happen.

That is the message which expert form analyst Mick Gannon has relayed to punters after hearing multiple complaints about track bias in recent times.

The highly respected tipster explained that while track bias can be an annoyance for a few specific groups of people, it is actually a “great thing” for punters who put the hard work into their form.

“My lay is people who whinge about track bias,” Gannon started on SENTrack’s Lay Back.

“I think lane bias is a great thing for punters and a great thing for (hard workers). If you do the work, you can get results.

“And sure, it is a pain in the backside; it's no good when you take one to the track, when you're an owner, and even worse if you're a set and forget punter, because if you put (a bet) on, then you go play your sport or you go to your kid's sport and the track bias plays the way it does, (it’s annoying).

“But you can find an angle, so even if you lose on the day, you can find an angle to get some back and to take advantage of it. You've just got to do the hard work!”

The Sydney-based form analyst continued by exclaiming that due to horse racing being an outdoor sport, punters need to lean into the fact that track bias occurs.

Gannon even explained that it is predictable to tell when track bias will occur, which should, in theory, help punters back the right horse.

“I don't think we lean into track bias enough. It's ok! It's an outdoor sport, it exists, don't avoid it, don't pretend it doesn't happen,” stated Gannon.

“And don't blow up when it happens, it's coming. It's really predictable. We know when it's coming.

“At Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, the rail was in the true, we knew it was going to be fair.”
