NZ Racing tips: Jayne Ivil & Mark Claydon's Saturday best bets (29/08)

New Zealand form analysts Jayne Ivil & Mark Claydon have given their best bets for racing in NZ this Saturday.

On SENTrack & RSN's Giddy Up, both Ivil & Claydo gave their thoughts on Riccarton and Whanganui.

Riccarton

Race 3 Rating 75 1200m

8 – 4 – 6 – 11

Miss Starlight has typically performed well in a fresh state and her four attempts over the 1200m trip have yielded 3 wins, including one at stakes level as a three-year-old. She has often lined up in the best company with 8 runs as a three-year-old in black type races. This looks like a nice kick off point for her as she enters her four-year-old season. Cool Aza Rene is the likely danger, unbeaten fresh up and a fast mare, blinkers have come off and she has had the benefit of a trial leading in.

Race 4 3YO 1000m

1 – 3 – 2 – 5

Zafar was very good on debut winning the Listed Champagne Stakes at the track over 1200m. Put aside, he returns for his first three-year-old run, the Snitzel colt has trialled on soft footing and appeared, under trial conditions, to get through it. Final Time is a lightly tried filly out of a multiple Group 1 winning mare, who was twice stakes placed as a two-year-old, hasn’t been sighted in a public trial but has form on a soft track.

Whanganui

Race 6 Open 1200m

11 – 10 – 9 - 2

Amazing Son looks like a progressive type, by Belardo, he has come through the grades nicely over the winter months. He hasn't finished out of the top two this preparation, has won at the course and is three from four over 1200m. He steps up to open company for the first time but will carry the minimum. Stablemate Belzoni was super last start at Riccarton during the Winter Carnival, running slick sectionals to finish a narrow second in open company.
