The David Hayes-trained horse didn't get off to the best of starts and didn't look comfortable going down the straight.

In the meantime, Chad Schofield rode the 4-year-old chestnut mare Tempted out in front and couldn't be caught.

It's the first time in 21 races that Ka Ying Rising has lost!

3:22pm - HOW ZACH MERRETT'S "FORGOTTEN" HORSE ENDED UP IN GROUP 1

Ex-Essendon superstar who moved to Hawthorn over the trade period, Zach Merrett, joined the boys on SENTrack’s Saturday Trackside to discuss his horse, Over The Bridge, who is running in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) in Race 7 at Caulfield.

The seven-time Essendon Best and Fairest winner hilariously recalled that he actually completely forgot the horse existed, explaining how he came about owning the horse.

“It was quite funny. This time last year, my brother-in-law, who's Ciaron Maher's right-hand man and bloodstock agent called me and said, ‘Do you want to get involved in a horse’,” started Merrett.

“And I'm like, ‘Well Ciaron charges a lot for trainer fees. I don't want any interest in that.’

“He's like, ‘Let me waive them,’ and he let me in for nine months. I completely forgot about the horse.

“Then he called me probably six weeks ago and said, ‘Good win first-up in Bendigo,’ so I learned that the horse had ran in Bendigo and then I had to tell Sam Durham, who's also in the horse, what the name was, he kept calling it Under The Bridge.

“So, it’s been a whirlwind last six weeks to go from Bendigo to a Group 3 and now a Group 1 today. Having my own horse involved today is extra special.”

Over The Bridge is currently $5 to win the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.

Let’s see if the filly can get the chocolates for Zach Merrett!

2:45pm - WAR MACHINE WINS FIRST RACE IN 378 DAYS

War Machine, who finished 10th in last year’s Everest, is back to his winning ways!

The Ben, Will & JD Hayes-trained gelding impressed in the Race 5 at Caulfield – the Group 3 Harry White Stakes (1400m), winning by 0.2 lengths, barely holding out the favourite Private Eye.

“War Machine, he's back, not quite to his Stradbroke winning best, but that's a good win,” Luke stated on SENTrack’s Saturday Trackside.

However, David Taggart was left upset with Private Eye’s jockey, Blake Shinn, being adamant that the hoop got the ride wrong on the favourite.

“Oh B.Shinn, what are you doing? Just wait for it to drop off Shinn, fair dinkum,” exclaimed Taggart.

“(Mark) Zahra just outrode him. Zahra took his run.

“Blake is the ultimate professional, he will even admit that he got that wrong.

“Some would say I’m taking through my wallet but just go back and have a look at the ride mate.”

2:24pm - THE KA YING RISING WHISPERS WHICH SHOULD LEAVE DOUBTERS SCARED

Josh Jenkins has the inside word on Ka Ying Rising ahead of The Everest at Randwick.

The retired AFL player revealed that he has heard whispers that the Hayes stable is confident the Hong Kong superstar will break the Randwick track record for 1200m.

“I’ve got mail about Ka Ying Rising,” said Jenkins told SENTrack’s Saturday Trackside.

“He'll just go there and break the track record.

“That's what their camp are saying. I've got people placed inside the camp today.”

2:02pm - $61 POP SHOCKS AT CAULFIELD

Cam Luke was very bullish on Zambales in Race 4 at Caulfield – the Listed Gothic Stakes (1400m) – however, it was the $61 roughie Milsons Point who surprised the field.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and ridden by Ben Allen, the Godolphin gelding delivered the Maher camp their first winner of the day at Caulfield.

The Maher stable does not have any horses running in Race 5 and Race 6 at Caulfield, but in Race 7 – the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) – that’s where the day heats back up for that star-studded stable.

They have a plethora of horses (4) going around in that Group 1 and will be hopeful to take out their second Caulfield winner of the day.

1:55pm - TAGGS TAKES ON LUKE'S "FIRST MAJOR BET"

Cam Luke is having his biggest crack of the day so far for the next race at Caulfield (Race 4).

Luke is with Zambales, one of his best for the day, but ex-hoop David Taggart doesn’t share that same excitement.

Luke: “My biggest bet of the day; my first major bet is on Zambales.”

“You don't like it!”

Taggart: “I don’t like the race.”

“I think I'll win an ARIA one day, so I’ll go I Am Aria.”

Stay tuned to find out who will win the head-to-head battle.

12:55pm - HAVE WE ALREADY FOUND OUR OAKS WINNER?

The VRC Oaks (2500m) is one of Australia’s most prestigious races and is the feature race on Thursday of Flemington’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Prior to the running of Race 2 at Caulfield - the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) - analyst Cam Luke stated three-year-old grey filly Your Colour is screaming to win the Oaks.

“It is my Oaks tip! She screams Oaks,” Luke said prior to the race on SENTrack’s Saturday Trackside.

The daughter of Maurice ended up finishing second behind Quick Finish, bolting home from last place.

Luke was extremely pleased with that performance, declaring Your Colour as our future Oaks winner on November 5.

“There’s your Oaks winner!” Exclaimed Luke.

“She hasn’t been able to run down the winner (Quick Finish), but she’s come from last (to finish second).

“I’m really happy with her there.”

12:18pm - THREE-WAY PHOTO TO KICK OFF CAULFIELD CARD

The Caulfield meeting is underway!

It kicked off with the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes, and what a race it was to start the card.

A three-way photo finish ensued with roughie King Snitz, and two of the race fancies Vallice and Cignetti battling it out.

It ended up being the roughie for trainer Shane Jackson and jockey Damian Lane who came out on top, barely winning the Group 3, priced at $14 with Sportsbet.

9:16am - RANDWICK TRACK COULD GET TO SOFT 5 FOR THE EVEREST

Expert analyst Mick Gannon, who resides in Sydney, has provided an update into the Randwick track conditions for Everest Day.

Yesterday, the track was sitting at a Heavy 8, but there is now a chance that it could be upgraded all the way to a Soft 5 by the time Ka Ying Rising races in The Everest!

“Beautiful weather here in Sydney, you would not believe it!” Gannon revealed on SENTrack’s Winners.

“We'll be kicking off on a Soft 7. We'll get to a Soft 6; there's absolutely no doubt about that.

“There's a chance, if it continues to dry and the wind picks up, we might even get to a Soft 5 towards the backend of the meeting.

“That will just be all in Ka Ying Rising's favour.”

8:27am - HAYES "THRILLED" WITH TRACK CONDITIONS FOR KA YING RISING

A lot has been made about the track conditions for the world’s best horse, Ka Ying Rising, who is looking to defend his Everest throne at Randwick Racecourse.

The Hong Kong superstar slightly drifted in the odds yesterday after the Randwick track hit Heavy conditions, but now, that Sydney track has been upgraded to a Soft 7, and may potentially continue to improve!

Reflecting on those conditions, Ka Ying Rising’s trainer David Hayes admitted he was “thrilled with the conditions” on RSN’s First Word, exclaiming they have been “very lucky” given the recent Sydney weather.
