New Zealand form analyst Jayne Ivil has given her best bets for racing in NZ this Wednesday.
On SENTrack & RSN's Giddy Up, Ivil gave her thoughts on Ruakaka.
See her best bets below:
Race 3 - 3YO 1200m
2 – 9 – 3 – 10
Proteus debuted at Te Rapa a fortnight ago against a smart line-up of three-year-olds. Off the back of a quiet trial, he produced a brave effort to finish second in behind Texas Cowboy, who now has stakes targets. He jumped well and travelled nicely on speed, an experience which sets him up nicely here second up. Lofty Wind lines up for her first race day start, she draws well and has the benefit of a strong, experienced jockey. A recent trial winner who finished alongside Perfect Choas, who has franked the trial form by winning last weekends Listed Wanganui Guineas. The market suggests she is forward enough to run boldly on debut.
Race 5 - Maiden 2100m
2 – 1 – 12 – 9
Paper Romance is deserving of a maiden victory off the back of his recent form, twice runner-up after stepping up to the 2000m trip on heavy tracks, and then a last start 4th at Raukaka behind With Grace, who has subsequently won again. He is a bold galloper who puts himself on speed, drawn out but should work across to lead this field. Escape Room has been honest this preparation, placing in his last two, he had excuses at Taupo last start where he got back in running and was held up for a period in the home straight, still managing to finish within ¾ of a length of the race winner.
Race 7 - Rating 65 1400m
7 – 6 – 8 - 4
Fraudster deserved his maiden win last start on the track after taking on some strong three-year-old company this preparation. This doesn’t look like a strong step up in grade and his form still holds up with a defeat behind She’s A Saint who was dominant winning in stakes grade last start. Uptown kicks off her campaign at Raukaka with some gear adjustments, the blinkers and nose band replaced by a shadow roll. She picked up a win and a placing from three starts last preparation and the 1400m kick off point looks like good placement for the Savabeel mare.
