McArdle confirms My Gladiola UK tilt

My Gladiola is heading to the United Kingdom!

Fresh off her Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) victory on Saturday at Sandown, the grey’s trainer, John McArdle, has confirmed an international tilt on RSN’s Correct Weight.

“We've made no secret of what our endgame is, and that is to get to the UK and try do an Asfoora,” the trainer confidently stated.

“We’ll go over there for three or four runs and try get the Group 1 over there as well.”

But what is the plan for the four-year-old mare in the short-term though?

McArdle explained there are “plenty of options” available for the daughter of I Am Invincible, suggesting five black-type races.

“In the short-term, there's plenty of options for her,” McArdle said.

“Whether it's the Manikato (1200m), but she hasn't had a lot of luck at Caulfield.

“Or whether we run her in a race like the Gilgai (1200m) to run her down the straight.

“Or whether we go to Sydney and run in a Premiere (1200m) or the Sydney Stakes (1200m).

“She might run in a Champions Sprint (1200m) over the Flemington Carnival.”

However, despite suggesting multiple races for the sprinter to run in, the trainer admitted she will only have one or two more runs this spring.

The grey will then return in the autumn for the Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) and potentially the Group 1 Galaxy (1100m) before jumping on the plane to the UK.

“She may only have one, maybe two more runs, but that would be it this preparation,” revealed McArdle.

“Then she'd have a bit of a break, she'd come back and run in the Lightning and maybe a Galaxy before heading to the UK.”

When looking at futures markets which My Gladiola is available in this spring, the Group 1 winner holds a price of $6 with Sportsbet for the Manikato Stakes on September 27 and $13 for the Champions Sprint on November 7.
