Race 1 Maiden 1300m

8 – 11 – 10 – 1

Off The Scales ran well over the track and distance on debut, finishing third, less than a length from the winner. She was shuffled back from an inside draw and over-raced, her overall performance suggesting that she would improve from the experience. In The Vineyard finished just marginally ahead of Off The Scales last start and has since placed again, it wouldn’t surprise me to see her win here. Itchy Heart debuts after a recent trial win, the horse who finished 4th in that trial and was the horse who defeated In The Vineyard in her most recent start.

Race 2 Rating 74 1300m

4 – 1 – 6 – 3

Confectionist is 2 from 2 on the Cambridge synthetic and looks the horse to beat here, Michael McNab has a good association with the mare, rides the track better than most and rides for an inform stable. She looks the map horse of the race and should settle in the 1-1. Perfect Dividends was runner-up to Confectionist last start and has a solid record on the track, he should lead this field and dictate terms with little pressure. There doesn’t appear to be much separating these two gallopers, but Confectionist gets a massive weight advantage carrying 7kg less than Perfect Dividends.

Race 3 Maiden 970m

1 – 8 – 3 – 2

Zac Gary finished second after leading fresh up over 1000m, with the blinkers on, he went straight to the front and was only run over late. He posted his best figures and should be able to build on that second up, fitter and coming back slightly in trip. The Sweetest Song will have her first race day outing in this, she cleared the gates well in a recent trial and lead to the post without being asked for an effort.
