New Zealand form analysts Jayne Ivil & Mark Claydon have given their best bets for racing in NZ this Saturday.

Race 2 Benchmark 65 1200m

2 – 4 – 7 – 5

Zorero returns from a spell and has trialled smartly ahead of this 1200m assignment. The Per Incanto gelding had three starts last summer, winning on debut before picking up a placing in an open three-year-old event, he ended the campaign at G3 level finishing 5 lengths from Belle Cheval. Faultless is second up, he led fresh and came to the end of his run. Strips fitter for this and is a second up winner. He raced in strong three-year-old company last spring and picked up a placing at stakes level in the Hawkes Bay Guineas.

Race 7 Listed Sir Colin Meads Stakes

3 – 1 - 9 – 6

System of Play won on debut as a two-year-old before being put aside, he returns here for only his second race day start. His only win has proved to be a great form guide with Perfect Chaos, the runner up winning the Listed Wanganui Guineas a few weeks ago, it has also produced another two individual race winners and a stakes placegetter. The colt has trial twice, finishing third in his most recent, finishing second in that trial was race rival Justin Case. Justin Case is also fresh up and was the winner of the G3 Matamata Slipper as a two-year-old. He is likely to handle wet conditions better than most.

Race 8 Open 1200m

3 – 1 – 12 – 13

Afternoon Siesta is a locally trained mare who has won 4 form 7 and has never finished out of the top three. She flew through the grades over the summer winning at G3 level and placing in a G1 over a mile behind She’s A Dealer. She has never raced over 1200m, but looked sharp enough in a recent trial travelling comfortably in behind a very smart mare. Navigator has a very good fresh up record, is a sprinting specialist and finished 2nd fresh up last campaign in the G1 TAB Telegraph behind NZ Sprinter of the Year First Five.
