Flemington

Race 1: Inglis Banner (Listed) - 1000m

Winner: Soldi (4)
Good win on debut, beating Royal Press, who ran well here on Cup Day. Blake Shinn sticks. Rightful favourite and progressive.

Best value: Goddess Kay (7)
Corstens stable have a high opinion of her. Craig Williams rides. Danger to the favourite.

Best roughie: Rusty Pearl (13)
Respecting the Ciaron Maher/Ethan Brown combination.

Top 4: 4, 7, 5, 13

Summary: Soldi is the one to beat. Goddess Kay is the clear danger.

Race 2: Ronald McDonald House VIC/TAS Mile (BM84) - 1600m

Winner: Fiorenot (2)
Hard to look past the consistent Tom Dabernig-trained galloper. Has run top three in 11 of 13 career starts.

Danger: Superfabulistic (13)
Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott mare who has an excellent record (9:3-3-2).

Best roughie: Nation’s Call (3)

Last three runs have been good. Building nicely for this. Big odds.

Top 4: 2, 13, 4, 3

Summary: Fiorenot looks hard to beat. Superfabulistic the danger. Nation’s Call a great longshot.

Race 3: Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Group 3) - 2600m

Winner: Defiantly (1)
One-time Melbourne Cup favourite. Internationals have a decent record in this race.

Best value: Berkeley Square (3)
Ran on nicely behind So You Are in the Bendigo Cup. Won’t mind any rain around.

Best roughie: Valiang King (7)
Not going quite as well as this time last year but his best has him in the finish.

Top 4: 1, 4, 3, 7

Summary: Defiantly looks a great winning chance at decent odds. Pinhole is the main danger. Berkeley Square and Valiant King knockout hopes.

Race 4: Fisher Stakes (Listed) - 1200m

Winner: Immortal Star (9)
Drawn perfectly for a straight race. First-up win at Geelong was good. Can go on with it for Maher/Brown.

Danger: Hankee Alpha (17)
Is the favourite based on her win two back. Likes it wet. Favourite who can win, but has come up short.

Best roughie: Grand Impact (8)
Ran well in the Ndola race on Derby Day. Drawn wide which suits. Good odds.

Top 4: 9, 17, 6, 8

Summary: Immortal Star looks over then odds. Hankee Alpha a strong winning hope. Grand Impact and Inkaruna in the mix.

Race 5: Matriarch Stakes (Group 2) - 2000m

Winner: Soverato (4)
Was excellent winning the Tesio, holding off Shockletz who ran well in the Melbourne Cup. Good value.

Danger: Vivy Air (8)
Ran on behind Lindermann at Randwick last time. Her best is god enough if she brings it.

Best roughie: Jenni’s Meadow (10)
Ran third behind Soverato, beaten less than a length. Has come up a big price.

Top 4: 4, 8, 10, 5

Summary: Soverato represents great value. Vivy Air the obvious danger. Jenni’s Meadow a great roughie option.

Race 6: Champions Sprint (Group 1) - 1200m

Winner: Tempted (6)
Best sprinter in the land. Conquered the Everest and Ka Ying Rising. Should be winning.

Best value: Joliestar (7)
Looks like the only one who could beat Tempted.

Best roughie: Point Barrow (11)
Been dynamic in two wins this prep. Might find these a bit good, but a good price to find out.

Top 4: 6, 7, 3, 11

Summary: Tempted is hard to beat. Joliestar is the main danger at good odds.

Race 7: Champions Mile (Group 1) - 1600m

Winner: Autumn Glow (8)
Arguably the best galloper in Australia. Has won 14 of 15 career starts.

Best value: Lindermann (2)
Didn’t go a yard at Caulfield three back. Won with authority in Sydney last time. Should lead and give a sight if he’s on song.

Best roughie: Tom Kitten (1)
Was unable to reel in Lindermann in the Craven Plate. Can figure in the finish.

Top 4: 8, 2, 1, 3

Summary: Autumn Glow looks in a different class. Lindermann and Tom Kitten are the best of the rest.

Race 8: Champions Stakes (Group 1) - 2000m

Winner: Cosmic Crusader (1)
Cox Plate winner who has silenced all critics. Iron horse who can win again.

Best value: Birdman (5)
Loomed to win the Cox Plate but Cosmis Crusader was too strong. Can turn the tables with some luck.

Best roughie: Omni Man (9)
Third behind Point Of Law in the Geelong Cup reads well.

Top 4: 1, 5, 10, 9

Summary: Cosmic Crusader is the one to beat. Cox Plate place getters Birdman and Aeolian the obvious dangers. Omni Man the value.

Race 9 – HKJC World Pool Grand Handicap (BM80) - 1100m

Winner: Educated (6)
In winning form, drawn well and has a great record (7:4-2-0). Maher could finish the Carnival with a win in the last.

Best value: Tres Magnifique (10)
Hoof on the till with three placings this prep. Wide barrier suits down the straight.

Best roughie: Fission (17)
Willie Pike in the last…

Top 4: 6, 10, 2, 17

Summary: Educated is the one to beat. Tres Magnifique offers good value, as does Esmahli. Fission an absolute knockout.
