Gulgong-trained three-year-old Raised A Legend was a surprise winner. A last start second in a Mudgee 3YO Maiden (1100m), he went straight to the front from his outside barrier (10) after a quick beginning. He then settled nicely, grabbed a break nearing the home turn and although tiring, had enough in hand to score in a photo, in a promising performance. Chris Waller-trained Elusive Star raced in second place all the way. He kept battling on well in the straight, gradually making ground on the winner over the closing stages for a sound second, on debut. Dreamforce, a colt from the John Thompson stable, was fourth on the rails, went to third on straightening and kept fighting on to take the minor placing, also going quite well on debut.
