The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt France resumed to score a good first up win, albeit very narrowly. Having only his second race start, he began well and settled nicely in third place, before moving up to challenge shortly after turning for home. Then after quite a battle, he gained the photo decision to score a narrow but smart win. The former Peter Moody-trained El Venetian, now in the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable, went to the front but was pressured in the lead (by the Godolphin-raced Amet). He then fought back particularly well over the latter stages for a most encouraging first up second.
