The David Payne-trained filly Lady Macan, a daughter of the 1993 Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Lady Jakeo (Last Tycoon), impressed in scoring her first win in three starts after a wide trip. She travelled well midfield but was then caught three deep without cover. She progressed nicely (still wide) to move up outside the leading pair (Carver and Sniper Fire) approaching the home turn. She got to a narrow lead at the 200m and then fought gamely to win by a neck, putting up a very promising effort. Brazen Moss raced in seventh place on the rails, following a good tempo. He saved ground with an inside run rounding the home turn and went to fourth on straightening. He then switched out and ran on well (late) for a good second. Sniper Fire raced outside the leader, challenged at the 200m and then held on well for a close-up third. *ANZ
