Miss Andretti Stakes (LR)
Consistent mare Hussy By Choice began very well from her outside barrier (10) and quickly crossed to the lead. She travelled comfortably in front, grabbed a clear break rounding the home turn and was untroubled in the straight to win by a length and a half in smart time, 1:09.73. The favourite Shining Knight ($3) also drew wide (9) but he went back at the start and settled at the tail of the ten-horse field. He was giving the leader about ten lengths and was hard ridden passing the 600m. He switched deep shortly after straightening and came with a late run for a very good second. Beach Express ($13) began well from barrier two and had a good run in third spot on the rails. He got through to second at the 200m and kept fighting on for third after having every chance. Top weight Waterman’s Bay (59kg) raced midfield but was trapped three deep without cover most of the way. He then kept running on gamely (wide-out) in the straight for a sound fourth. *ANZ
