The well-supported Tango Rain followed his debut win at this track in a Two-Year-Old Maiden (1110m) to score in good style, stepping up in class here. He was quickly away and again went to the front. He then settled well, got a break nearing the home turn and fought back strongly to score quite impressively. The favourite Thronum was a bit slow to move, recovered to race in fifth place on the rails but looked uncomfortable in the Heavy8 conditions nearing the home turn. He got through to third at the home and kept fighting on for a sound second, his first defeat in three starts to date. Hair Trigger was eased from his outside barrier (10), raced in last place to the 600m, fanned deep at the home turn and took the eye running on well for third in a smart performance. Decorated Soldier was fifth to the home turn and held on particularly well for (2.5 lengths) fourth, stepping up in class after winning a Two-Year-Old Maiden (1150m) at Newcastle Beaumont recently.
