Rebel Dane came from an impossible position in the run to sweep down the outside in the straight and score in the final strides. Restrained to a detached last in the run, Rebel Dane was a good ten lengths from the leader Casino Swoop, who had an easy time in front in the early stages. Taken to the extreme outside on cornering and taking a few strides to balance up at the top of the straight, Rebel Dane made good ground the whole way down the straight to pick up Urquidez, who looked the certain winner within the final 50m, to score. A great first up effort by a very talented colt. Urquidez had every possible chance in the run, settling on the back of the leader before having clear running the whole way down the straight. If anything he was left in front a little too soon, being left a sitting shot. He tried very hard and only found the winner slightly the better. Taxmeifyoucan followed the runner up into the race finishing on at one pace a little closer to the rail. Ashokan travelled a little wide with no cover early on, he too worked home at one pace for a well held fourth, an even first up run. Sacred Falls settled well back in the field, he was finding the line fairly well late on indicating that he might be looking for more ground. *ANZ
