Bennetta scored a most impressive victory here finishing on strongly from worse than midfield in the run and wide in the straight to draw away to an impressive one and three quarter length victory. Ichihara set a good early pace stretching the field out over plenty of ground. Bennetta settled down seventh one of the fence about seven lengths from the leader. She tracked up three wide with a trail from the 700m on the back of Longport before cornering wider into the clear. When balanced up in the straight she finished on powerfully, proving far too good in the run to the line. Ichihara was good in defeat, she crossed from her wide barrier to lead clearly. She cornered well clear and finished on gamely only finding the winner a little too good over the concluding stages. Dear Demi put in a great first up run finishing on well from third last coming between horses in the straight, she will be improved by the run and more distance. She looks set for a good preparation. Driefontein was as game as ever, she chased the leader in the run and battled on in the straight without ever threatening the first three. Flying Sniztel ran a similar race to Driefontein. Used up in the early stages to race in second, she too battled on in the straight. Jade Marauder, who came from last and wide on the turn, was making good ground late and should come on for the run, a sound first up effort. *ANZ
