Winter Challenge Qlty (LR)
The French-bred import He’s Your Man broke through for his first Australian win at his sixth start in this country and his second this preparation. He was smartly away before easing to race back in fifth place, one off the rails. He switched wide after turning for home, put in a good run to hit the lead at the 200m and then went on to win comfortably by a length and a quarter. I’m Imposing was ridden quietly and raced at the tail of the eight- horse field to the turn. He was blocked at the 200m, switched to the rails at the 100m and ran on well late for an unlucky third. He was however promoted to second after his protest for interference was upheld. Coup Ay Tee was sixth on the rails, looked for an inside run at the 300m before pushing into the clear at the 200m. He then battled on quite well being second past the post but was relegated to third following a protest. The British import Disclaimer travelled well in fourth place on the rails, he switched out into clear running at the 300m and then held on for 3 lengths fourth after having every chance. Queenstown raced outside the leader (Tougher Than Ever), took a narrow lead on passing the 300m and then held on fairly well for (3.4 lengths) fifth while the favourite Romantic Moon had an ideal run, one out and one back, but was under pressure on straightening and then just battled on for (3.8 lengths) sixth in a disappointing effort. *ANZ
