In a fast-run race, favourite Trekking was too strong over the last 100m to score back-to-back stakes victories and take his record to seven wins in 18 starts. He settled fifth early then sixth in a strung out field, standing up the leader eight lengths at the 800m. Turning in and near the 400m he still had much to do, kept going strongly and finally caught the leader at the 50m and was going away at the finish. Brave Song was third last at the 800m, still third last at the 400m then flew down the middle of the track for a top second. Deploy led them in and looked the winner at the 150m but was caught late while Redouble, from well back at the 400m, also finished well through the middle for fourth.
