The Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained gelding Grandioso is now unbeaten in two starts, following his debut win in 2YO Handicap (1000m) at Bendigo on 19 April with another really good win here. He settled back in last place in the seven-horse field before commencing his move on straightening. He then sprinted quickly, hung in briefly at the 50m, but proved too good to score impressively.
