Thy went straight to the lead and set a moderate pace (first 1000m 63.10) before sprinting from the 600m (34.44), then fighting on to win in a three-way photo. Crafty Irna was a handy fourth then moved up three wide without cover from the 700m point. She challenged at the turn and continued to fight on gamely in the straight for second, beaten only a long head. Aliyana Tilde was near last to the 600m, got through between runners on straightening, and ran on well to figure in a threeway photo. Ominous Quality was midfield and three wide with cover, she fanned wide at the turn and kept making ground for fourth, finishing just in front of Jade Marauder ($4.80 fav) who was trapped wide all the way before finishing fifth, beaten only a length and half. *ANZ
