Liverpool City Cup (G3)
Terravista continued his great winning run with a great performance here, being forced to race three and four wide without cover from his wide barrier (9) but still proving too good for the very talented three-year-old El Roca. He settled down in third position on the outside in a moderately run race, was taken to the centre of the course and cornering and quickened up very well to quickly run by El Roca. He tired a little in the concluding stages with El Roca fighting back gamely on his inside. El Roca crossed from his wide barrier (7) to race on the quarters of the leader Howmuchdoyouloveme in a steadily run race. He worked in strongly to the race and took the lead at the 300m. He was beaten for acceleration in the straight but fought back strongly to only go under by a long head. A very good effort by a three-year-old against the older horses. Ninth Legion put in a great first up effort finishing on strongly from third last on the home turn for a good third. He is set for a good autumn. Pinwheel was another to be finishing on from back in the field against the slow early sectionals to finish fourth. *ANZ
