This G3 3yo fillies only mile went to the big-bodied and framed Whimsical in a reasonable line up after she sat outside the leader and used her big frame to lead at the 100m. She would win by almost a length in 1:38.64 for the mile on a Slow7 track. The winners and where they came from on the home turn were second (three-off the inside and a length from the leader), third (the fence and three lengths from the leader), second (four-off the inside and half a length from the leader), third (two-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), led (five-off the inside and a head in front), seventh (seven-off the inside and three and a half lengths from the leader), co-leader (three-off the inside) and seventh (eight-off the inside fence and five lengths from the leader). Whimsical had won her lead up maiden very easily so it was no surprise she started third favourite today. It was her second win in three starts and obviously her first attempt at Blacktype plus she has the frame to run further and keep winning too. Love For All, the Aussie bred, worked to the lead and tried hard once headed turning for home by the winner and did run as fourth favourite. She has paid a dividend in all her four starts and today was her first attempt at Blacktype. Signora Nera ran on strongly for third after settling ninth the outer and being wide across the top to the home turn. She was third at the 100m albeit in a gap and was ridden by an apprentice too it should be noted. Fourth home was the second favourite and Australian bred Key, which settled back tenth and ran on wide out strongly to be beaten almost three lengths. Charms Star, a maiden, after racing seventh the inner came through third turning for home before wilting and finishing fifth beaten over five lengths. Llanacord raced eighth after an awkward start and battled away for sixth beaten just under five and a half lengths. Samina Bibi after racing sixth and wide weakened while White Lightning after being last due to a slow start plugged on. The favourite Shezzacatch was keen early and raced sixth the inner then improved fourth turning for home only to weaken in the footing to be ninth beaten just under ten lengths. The footing made it tricky and while this was a decent strength event it was the track conditions that held the biggest sway on the day. The winner looks to have a big future as her size alone will assist her further on into the Christmas/New Year period.
