The winner of this G3 3yo filly only at set weights over 2100m was the $1.30 pop Amarelinha that only won by the barest margin today. She clocked 2:14.83 and was winning her third Blacktype race after two G2 wins (1600m and 2000m) The filly has won four of her six starts and her two defeats have been by a nose on debut and by a head (by Aegon that was unbeaten at this stage). The winners and where they turned for home were second (three-off the inside and half a length from the leader), seventh (four-off the inside and three and a half lengths from the leader), third (five-off the inside and half a length from the leader), led (one-off the inside and a length ahead), second (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fourth (six-off the inside and half a length from the leader), fifth (eight-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), second (eight-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), seventh (six-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader) and eleventh (ten-off the inside and four lengths from the leader). Today she raced ninth the outer and was eighth midrace then sixth wide at the 600m before being let loose to come up second turning for home but three lengths adrift. She took every inch of the home straight to run down the leader. Settling so far back seems a no-no for the filly now as bad draws have been the usual reason but that massive wake-up call today will have changed the connections approach surely. Second home and almost stealing it was the Australian bred leader Needle And Thread that has run into Amarelinha twice before today for a fourth at G2 beaten almost three and a half lengths after trailing and a third beaten almost five lengths after leading. Today she led up and controlled affairs then kicked away the run home and the tactics only failed by a nose. Dragon Queen ran third and was ridden by an apprentice too. She raced fourth the outer and came up third wider turning for home and fought on well to be beaten just over two lengths. Fourth home was Yolo that raced sixth the fence and ran on the inside to be beaten just under four lengths. Fifth home was Beautifulnightmare that raced seventh the outer and came up sixth and wider turning for home before fighting on but she was beaten almost six and a half lengths. Next to finish and running home attractively was Carolina Reaper that came from twelfth on her own and thirteenth centre track turning for home to find the line and get sixth on the post to be beaten just over six and a half lengths. Spine Tingle finished seventh and beaten seven lengths after racing fifth the outer and coming up fourth and deep turning for home. The gaps then opened up with Waimoku Falls next home eighth beaten just under ten lengths after racing second the outer and then Slave To Love (apprentice rider) finished ninth after racing in that position mostly. The rest got beaten almost fourteen lengths and up to over forty lengths. Amarelinha should not have just got up today as she gave away too big a start on the home turn and the red hot favourite almost got beaten incredibly. Do not expect the rider to be so cocky and casual next time as there are no prizes for pretty rides owing to punters just wanting a win and at $1.30 it should not be by a nostril flare on the line.
