This G3 Open Handicap over 1400m was won very easily by the Australian bred 5yo mare Miss Wilson that started a clear cut favourite. She trailed the leaders and then pushed off into second turning for home and strode up to lead at the 200m. The locally trained mare went clear and coasted to the line to score by two and a half lengths in 1:22.62 on the best presented footing of the entire Spring carnival at the Hastings track. The time was good but the last event on the day won by Yearn against several grades inferior for a hattrick of wins this campaign was 1:22.69 to show just how good that mare is going too. Miss Wilson was winning her sixth race from twenty starts and her second G3 success to go with a G1 fourth and a Listed fourth. Lucyinrio raced near the pace through and fought on well for second while Amarula was a huge third after being uncharacteristically tardy and second last away. The usual on pacer ran home stoutly and actually was second 50m out before losing that spot a lip on the line. La Fille En Jeu was a huge fourth fresh up after being wide and working early before going up second and she was only a nose and a long head from the runner up spot. Shadows Cast was also fresh up and ran a super race for fifth beaten three lengths after settling back and coming very wide across the top. He sustained a gutsy finish down the outer. Snapshot ran a better race and the improved footing was the key. Shadow Fox the fresh up leader was second at the 100m and wilted late while Watch This Space was trapped out worse than midfield before moving up fifth across the top and was left with no kick. Luna Rossa could be an improver next time out after boxing on late. The two runners from different stables but running in identical colours bar the caps namely Mighty Solomon and Seize The Moment were dreadful in finishing second last and last. The winner Miss Wilson has more big wins ahead as she has tactical speed and a secondary surge the run home. La Fille En Jeu and Shadows Cast ran super after doing overtime in the running, so hopefully neither has been flattened by such a gutbuster fresh up.
