The winner of this Listed race over 1400m was the second favourite Justaskme that settled back and swept up deepest and third turning in before reaching second at the 300m then leading at the 75m. He won by two lengths in 1:29.82 under 55kg and was recording his sixth win from eleven outings and he was scoring at his first Blacktype outing too. The 6yo gelding has been handled patiently and five of his six wins have come at 1300m (once) and 1400m (four times) in just six outings. The winners and where they came from turning for home were led (on the inner and three lengths clear), led (on the inner and two lengths clear), third (one-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), led (one-off the inside and two lengths clear), third (ten-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), third (on the inside and one length from the leader), second (one-off the inside and a neck from the leader) and tenth (five-off the inside and four lengths from the leader). Justaskme is very versatile having on won on Dead footing, Slow ground and Heavy conditions and he has much more success in store while the footing is rain-affected. Second home was the stablemate London Express that raced sixth the inside then got off and into third near the home turn before leading as they straightened up for the run in. The 6yo mare strode clear and looked the winner but was over-hauled inside the final 100m under 57kg plus it should be noted she was ridden by the apprentice Hazel Schofer. Third home was the 8yo mare Rosewood in here first show of form after three flops in a row and she came home hard from last on settling and eighth turning for home. She got into third the final 100m and was beaten just under two and a half lengths and was also ridden by an apprentice rider in Callum Jones. Fourth home was Le Sablier that raced seventh mostly and ran on gamely the run in to be beaten just over two and a half lengths. The 7yo mare was also ridden by an apprentice in Elen Nicholas. Fifth home was Raced Evans that was racing well out of her depth with the 5yo mare tackling Blacktype for the first time and having only won four races. She was ridden by an apprentice rider too in Ashvin Goindasarmy and was beaten just under four and a half lengths. Next home was the favourite Spring Tide that raced back and wide and came up deeper turning for home fifth but weakened badly to be beaten just under nine and three-quarter lengths. Seventh home was Tavis Court, also ridden by an apprentice in Charlotte O'Beirne, that raced third then fourth the outer but was battling the run home and stopped to be beaten eleven lengths. The rest got beaten thirteen lengths and up to just over nineteen lengths with the biggest flop of them being Pop Star Princess, which raced on the pace as usual but could not handle carrying 60kg. Mont Ventoux blundered at the start and lost rider. This was run and won in just under two seconds faster than the next best 1400m on the day, a Benchmark 65, as it should be being a Listed event. The on pacer track bias was on show for all too see with just one of the eight winners on the day turning home outside the first three, Three winners led on the home turn, one runner turned in second while three winners came from third on straightening up while the sole winner that came from the back coming in the final race of the day when the track had become well chopped up.
